Tour Itinerary

1. UK to Athens

Your door-to-door driver takes you to your choice of airport. On arrival in Athens, transfer to the 4* Divani Caravel, for one night. Enjoy a welcome drink with your fellow travellers. D

2. Athens to Nafplion

Your first morning provides an abundance of historical sites. Visit the Acropolis to admire the Parthenon then see the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch. Crossing the Corinth Canal, head to the ancient mountainside city of Mycenae, walk through the Lion Gate to see the giant ‘Cyclopean’ stones used to build the city walls and visit the Beehive Tombs. Stay in seaside Nafplion and the 3* Antonios hotel. B D

3. Nafplion to Olympia

Visit the sanctuary of Asclepios at Epidauros before continuing to Olympia and your hotel, the 4* Hotel Antonios. The hotel is located on a hillside with superb views of the town. B D

4. Olympia to Delphi

Tour the birthplace of the Olympic games this morning, seeing the Olympic Stadium and Gymnasium, before ascending the Sacred Way to Delphi and the Parian marble Treasury of the Athenians and the Temple of Apollo. Tonight, the 4* Amalia Hotel, offering breathtaking views of the picturesque port of Itea from its spot on a mountain slope, welcomes you. B D

5. Delphi to Kalambaka

Cross Thessaly, the bread basket of ancient Greece and the memorial to Leonidas at Thermopylae. Head off to Kalambaka and your hotel, set at the foot of the Metéora Rocks, the 4* Divani. B D

6. Kalambaka to Athens

Head back to Athens and the 4* Divani Caravel hotel for an overnight stay, stopping at one of the monasteries of Metéora, which are perched on top of pinnacles of rock. B

7. Cruising – Mykonos

Board your cruise ship in time for lunch, unpack and settle in as you set sail for the lovely island of Mykonos with its white-washed windmills, sugarcube houses and welcoming tavernas. B L D

8. Cruising – Kusadasi to Patmos

After enjoying a night on board, stop at the Turkish port of Kusadasi and you could join an optional trip to the famous ruins of ancient Ephesus, or take time to explore the bazaar. Your next port of call is the island of Patmos, where St John wrote the Book of Revelation. Tonight enjoy a Greek evening and dinner with entertainment. B L D

9. Cruising – Rhodes

Spend a whole day on the beautiful island of Rhodes; explore the Old City at your own pace, or relax on one of the golden beaches before returning for the captain’s dinner. B L D

10. Cruising – Heraklion to Santorini

Sail to Heraklion this morning, site of the ruins of King Minos’ Palace of Knossos. Later, your ship weighs anchor beneath the towering cliffs of ancient Thira on the island of Santorini, famous for its sunsets, cubic white houses and domed churches. B L D

11. Athens

After breakfast, arrive in Athens where you’ll have time to shop for some last-minute souvenirs, or to relax and enjoy the facilities of the 4* Divani Caravel Hotel, your home again for a final night. B

12. Athens to UK

Transfer to the airport for your homeward flight. Your driver will meet you at your chosen airport and take you home.

This tour is operated by our tour partner Insight Vacations, a specialist escorted tour operator in Europe.

This is a combination of coach tour and cruise. Driving times are not too long and are interspersed with sightseeing stops.
After your main sightseeing, you will have a chance to unwind for four nights on your Greek Islands cruise.

The main hotel featured on this tour is the Divani Caravel in Athens which is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. The hotels in Olympia, Delphi and Kalambaka have been chosen not only for their amenities, but also their convenient locations for visiting the historic sites.

Cruising the Aegean

Your four-night cruise is aboard the mid-size 3.5* MV Aquamarine, part of the Louis Lines fleet, specially chosen for its suitability for visiting smaller ports and hidden treasures. Facilities on board include two restaurants serving appetising menus and alfresco options for breakfast and lunch, several bars, a show lounge, a nightclub, a spa, indoor swimming pool and various shops and boutiques. The tour price is based on a standard outside cabin: superior outside cabins are available for a supplement from £60 per person.

You may wish to extend your stay in Athens at the 4* Divani Caravel Hotel from £96 per person per night, based on two people sharing (from £65 single supplement).

Please note that your extension supplement of £25 per person and your transfers are not included in these prices.
